Spindle neurons
are found in the brains of:
humans
great apes
humpback whales
fin whales
killer whales
sperm whales
bottlenose dolphin
Risso’s dolphin
beluga whales
elephants
they can refract signals
and turn thoughts on less than a dime
over a feeling
a change in lighting
at the sound of a baby crying
these neurons
look kind of different
in the brains of savants, the autistic
the ADD’ed, the schizophrenics…
people with perfect pitch
we may have to rethink how much
other organisms can think
these neurons may be what make us/them social
or even human
note that the octopuses didn’t make the cut
